Early productions tests for The Mad Scientist

I while back, before I started creating the actual goblins for the film, I did a miniature prototype to test what the final product would look like.

Below is a shot of the original sculpture as well as a close up of one the silicone heads I cast from it.

Goblin Armatures

This shows some of the steps along the way to build the internal puppet mechanics for The Mad Scientist. Some of the clips came from instructional videos I did for the rest of the goblin team. If you want to see those check out my YouTube channel!

M&M’s Hostages

This is a commercial I worked on that’s been making the rounds recently. I don’t have the numbers but I hear it got good responses from it’s showing during both the Grammys and the Oscars, so that’s always nice to hear.

All the animation is mine. They did a change to the audio after we’d finale it. That makes me sad as a perfectionist because the lip-sync doesn’t line up as well anymore. Oh well, I still think this one ended up being pretty funny. :)

Old Animation Reel

This is the last reel I made before taking the staff job here at Laika. Some things are a bit dated now but a lot of it, like the King Kong work, I’m still really proud of.

*Edit* This is out of date now, taking it down. Sorry!

In the beginning…

All right, I’ve tried getting my website modernized and back up a few times now. I’m an art guy so the stuff under the hood with web design can break my brain. On the flip side, it’s not worth the cash to have someone else build one for me. I’d rather bang my head against a few walls and know how everything’s working. I’m building this out of WordPress so there’s minimal html coding and updating things should be a LOT easier than the old days. Stay tuned!  -KaM
